Need advice. We got a flimsy little postcard from KCMPC advising us about a meeting to be held regarding approval of a 141 foot cell phone tower to be installed on adjacent property to ours. We could not go to this meeting due to work schedules. But now that i have reviewed what they intend to do I'm mortified to find out this tower will be 300 ft from our residence. KCMPC told me to contact KC Permits etc and they tell us to appeal this we would first need to pay $200.

We can't afford to employ an attorney to fight this for us. We are not trying to cause problems but we feel that someone should have contactef us directly about such a project.

Do you think our congressman might help with this matter?

You can certainly try, but you did have an opportunity to go to a meeting to voice your concerns. If its important enough to try to get a Congressman involved, it might have been important enough to miss work over.
You may want to pay the $200 and start the appeal.

141 feet is not that tall.

Your Congressman will be of no assistance.... the local ordinance regulates cell towers, not the state legislature. You need to find neighbors who are also affected and appeal. That is the only recourse at this point.
