I am planning on moving to the Knoxville area next June. I will have a teaching degree and will be certified to teach in Florida. I have taken the Praxis exams and I am going to apply to for a Tennessee teaching license. With this information in mind, does anyone know how hard it will be to get a job? Do they need teachers?
Thanks

Wink Do a little checking, but I think you can find a teaching position just about anywhere.

Ajs08, you might want to check out the following website for the teaching requirements in TN.
TN K-12 Teacher Licensing

And, I would check into the need for teachers depending on your major and where you want to live. Most areas around the country, not just TN, need qualified teachers. This is particularly true for math and science for the upper grades.

I hope you find what you are looking for. I hope to continue teaching once we make it finally to TN myself.

Best of everything to you and welcome to the forum.

You might want to check into Blount County schools. I know William Blount High School is building a new 9th grade academy due to overcrowding.

Hope everything works out for you!!

What degree(s) do you have? There's more competition in the Knoxville area than some other areas due to the presence of UT and the related interns in the schools. As someone else said, however, if you will be looking in the areas of Special Ed, ESL or secondary math/science, there'll be less problem.
