I will be moving to Knoxville the first week of June (finally got the job I have always wanted) and I need advice on some apartments. I will be working near the P.F. Changs restaurant and I would like to find a place close to there.

Here is what I am looking for:
- 1 bedroom apartments. I do not have kids and I'm single.
- Must have washer/dryer hookups or brand new washer and dryer.
- A gated community, a garage (not a carport) and walking closets are preferred but not a deal breaker.
- The apartment does not have to be luxurious but I do not want it to be cheap looking either.
- I would like an apartment to the P.F. Chang area. No more than 5 to 8 minutes away from the area.
- Price range is $1,200.
- I would be open to living in a suburb of Knoxville, but needs to be no more than 10 minutes from this area.

I am not familiar with Knoxville but my place of employment will be near the P.F. Changs restaurant area. According to Google Maps, there is also a place called McKay's and Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse. What would this area be considered? West Knoxville? Would this be a safe area? I would be staying in Knoxville long term, at least five years, so I would like a good and safe place to rent for this time.

Also, how do you like Knoxville? I like going to concerts (mostly rock), running, want to meet new people. What do you like, dislike about Knoxville? Again, I will be staying here for at least the next five years.

I really appreciate the help and can't wait to hear your responses. You guys can private message me as well.

A one bedroom apartment with a garage is probably not going to happen. You want to be looking in the Bearden area to be close to PF Chang's.

Off the top of my head...stay in the 37919 zip code for proximity to PF Changs. I would look at Villa at Londontown, Wellesley Park at Deane Hill (BRAND NEW construction), The Grove at Deane Hill...all very nice apartments that would probably suit your requirements. Best of luck on your move!

Thanks for the advise. I have made appointments and will be looking at both the Wellesley Park at Deane Hill and The Grove at Deane Hill places. They both look very good online.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I ended up renting at The Grove at Deane Hill and I like it. It is less than 6 minutes from work, so that was an important factor. My only complaint is that the one bedroom model and walking closet are a bit small and there is only trash dumpster in the entire apartment complex. Otherwise the apartments are very good.

Still would like to look for a bigger one bedroom apartment (bigger walk in closet especially) in West Knoxville once my lease expires. The closest to the Kingston Pike road area the better.
