MikeTenn, I just moved to Oak Ridge from Jackson, Mississippi. Been here a few months. I really like the area. The folks are so friendly here and Oak Ridge is a really pretty place. Best of luck to you!

Not near enough information to really give you much help. Having no idea of your budget, and how close you want to live to things like shopping, hospitals, schools, etc.
Budget is the biggest question mark.

Something like: I need 10+ acres with a 2500 SF house on the water, with mountain views, close to shopping and the best schools, but not too close to neighbors, and don't want any restrictions or home owner associations - and my budget is no more than $125K.

I'd look into the Straw Plains area,Or maybe in Jefferson Co as well...I would suggest Cocke Co, but that would have to be an area you went and seen for yourself...Its cheap there,But its also an area that is either loved or hated....You might would wanna check out the Walland and Townsend areas of Blount Co also...The Norris and Clinton areas in Anderson Co would also be another good option...I advise just come down sometime and check all those areas out for yourself and see what you like and don't like
