I would like to see Les Miles hired and return Tennessee to a standard of winning. I do not know if Miles is open to coaching again, and if he has been contacted by Tennessee.

This is a complete mess. Now Schiano is wanting compensation!

So glad he isn't coming. Currie needs to go - I've completely lost trust in him.

Currie needs to be smart in selecting the right candidate to be the next head coach. Pursuing Schiano is not being smart.

I did my fair share of FB and Twitter complaining today and I am a proud #VFL.

Yup. If U.T. gives one dime to Schiano, Currie should be run out of town.

Bad enough that the guy had the pedo knowledge allegations against him but just looking at his career, he's a mediocre coach at best. Out of all the coaches in the NCAA, NFL, CFL etc past and present, we should be looking at high caliber coaches for the money being paid out and what is at stake.

I learned about the entire Shiano/Sandusky thing on another board and wanted to come here to see the reaction. As an outsider with no knowledge (does anybody really know just how deep his knowledge of Sandusky really goes?) I can see cause for pause. I don't see him as being worth the PR move for a coach that just isn't that accomplished.

This is UT, this is the SEC. Seems like you shouldn't have a problem finding a top coach.

The owner of a local pub, he later tried to take back his words but the damage had been done

Amazing that UT fans are getting roasted in the national media for objecting to Schiano. The Penn State stuff wasn't some unsubstantiated Twitter rumor. It was from testimony provided under oath and printed in WaPo. It may not be true, but it's reasonable for UT fans to not want this man at our school.
My husband is a lifelong Vol and a UT alum and he told my son yesterday that if Schiano was hired he would not let him go to UT.

The opinion of the media seems to be "he probably didn't cover up child rape and he's a decent coach, so UT fans should have been thanking him for taking the job." Unbelievable.

If there was a rumor that Schiano had seen and not reported inappropriate behavior, why wasn't he deposed? That would have given an innocent man a chance to defend himself and a guilty one to be held to account.
