Hello Everyone. I'm in the Air National Guard. Thinking about transferring to the Tn National Guard. I haven't read on the forums about any Gang activies. I have read on Nationial Newspaper where there is but I wanted to ask the people that lived there to please let me know about this subject.
How bad are the Gangs and just how bad is the crime, in detail. Thank you

As in all cities, I'm sure there are gangs here, but I've never actually heard of any gang-related activity or crime. Crime seems relatively low in Knoxville. The "dangerous" parts of town are pretty well known and it seems that if you stay away from those areas you should be safe. This is unlike other cities, like Memphis (IMO!), where crime is seemingly everywhere. There was a well-publicized, gruesome, horrible double-murder last year, but definitely atypical.

As I recall, the perps who performed the double-murder last year were from Memphis and were just passing through town.

Anyway, I agree with you, I really don't think Knoxville has a gang problem. I've asked my friends who teach in the public schools if they're aware of any, and they all said no, even those who teach in "dangerous" East Knoxville (which isn't dangerous at all when compared to Memphis or Atlanta).

And I would venture to guess that Maryville has very, very little gang appeal...

We don't have graffiti in Knoxville, let alone gangs. There probably are some, but I don't think Knoxville is an environment that makes gang membership attractive.

Yes, they did live here. The two brothers (Davidson and Cobbins) were from Memphis. Davidson is described as being the ringleader. He had just been released from prison in West Tennessee a few months before the murders.

I do know and understand that Gangs canbe found in any city. I have been doing my reading on the subject matter of Gangs and have came across information on line that Gangs are in the TN and Knoxville area. I had wanted to know the Facts of How many/ How bad of an environment or control the Gangs have/ Crime in the area.
