Does Knoxville require that home business, operated online, buy a business license each year? I can look it up, but just wanting to make conversation.

Thanks for your insight!

I think that any business is going to need a license.

I think you need a state license, not city, but I could be wrong.

Businesses need a local County/City business license for taxes. State licenses are only for licensed professions.
As a business, you do have to register with the State for taxes, but there isn't a State license for internet sales (as far as I know).

For instance, as a home inspector, I need a State license. Same as contractors, barbers, car salespeople, doctors, etc. Its a license to do our job. Have to pass tests, and take continuing education to keep license. Has nothing to do with a business license, or paying taxes.

A business license is for paying taxes. In Knox County there is a tax on your business equipment, etc. You also have to register with the State to pay taxes on income.

If you run a business, you should have a business license. You can go to the City/County Building and get one. Its very easy.
