Hey everyone!

My fiancé and I live in Colorado right now, originally from Arizona. We are looking to see which states offer us the best opportunities to lay down roots and start new careers and a family. I realize that the climate between these three states is drastically different, so I am not focusing on humidity as a deciding factor.

We have been looking into Eastern Tennessee. We are hoping to find an area where we can buy at least 5 acres, where we could have a large garden and livestock. Good school districts are a must, and no more than an hour away from a major airport.

Any advice or suggestions about the best areas to check out, what its like to live there, weather etc? I am looking to get a teaching job when I move, so any information regarding average pay, how pension works, best areas with employment opportunity would be greatly appreciated!

Just trying to get the best and most current list of pros and cons to moving to TN, since a lot of the forums that I find are a few years old.

Thanks!

I suggest you start scrolling down the posts and just start reading past threads. These topics have been covered over and over, and there is a lot of good information . You can also use the "search feature" for specific topics as well. Even some of the older threads have good information.

Google is also your friend for getting a lot of information as well.

Knoxville has a pretty good airport, but the "major" airport is in Nashville, a few hours away.

Budget would also help, but honestly, a lot can change in three years.

My main suggestion is to visit the area, and see if its a good fit for you. Second suggestion is not to move here without jobs, or substantial savings.
