It's amazing how far Dollywood has come.

When I was a kid (late 80s) there was the culture, the neatness, the vibe, but literally zero decent rides.

In other words, just incomparable to any "real" theme park.

Now Dollywood is legit, I haven't been in several years but the newest coasters are up there with the best I've been on.

I was watching Captain Ron, a 1993 comedy with Kurt Russell, and he gives Dollywood a shoutout--hilarious just because, and just because, at that point, it was still basically nothing.

Rode the Lightning Rod again yesterday. The first time I did it last year, I joked that I was traumatized by it. Still, it will be a long time before that ride doesn't blow my mind. Even when I know what's coming, it still has me paralyzed and screaming. LOL Season passes are great because you can just pop in anytime, ride a couple rides, see a show and not feel stressed that you didn't get to everything. And the cost for a season pass is no more than for 2 admissions.

Right!?! I have ridden it one time, back in December, and when we went last weekend, we were in line for 20 minutes, but then the ride was suddenly shut down for maintenance. I'll ride it next time for sure--but I don't know why I crave to be tortured so much LOL.

The ride was one of the scariest roller coasters I have ever been on, no joke!

If you look the coaster up on this site, it is ranked 5th best in the US by members of this roller coaster enthusiast site:

Pretty dang impressive! What a ride.
