I just attempted to drive from my part of town to get to an event downtown. I turned around after Ebenzer on Northshore because there was quite a bit of flooding there and the second flooded street I would have tried to drive down. Now we just got a flash flood warning and luckily I made it back home before the initial road near my house was flooded too. Has it ever been this bad before?

Here around Vonore it is a swamp. I live across the street from a golf fairway that has been underwater all week.

I had some water in my basement today. The last time I had water in there was in 1995.

I have a rain gauge on my deck rail and we've had over 10 inches of rain in 7 days. That's twice what the TV weather guy has claimed we've gotten. The ground was saturated from the rain we got last week and it just won't absorb anymore, so it runs off and pools up.

Most TV meteorologists/weather reporters use NWS stats which are taken at McGee-Tyson airport in Blount County, unless they state the info is from stats taken at the TV station. Karns has been inundated with copious amounts amounts of rain, especially this morning and early afternoon.

Anderson county is a flooded mess. My back yard is a river, back roads flooded. I drove downtown today (car show) and I should not have. Had to turn around twice to find another route because of flooded roads, finally I made it. Now it’s pouring again.......

Should I start building an ark?

We're headed out in a week for another trip to the area, sure hope all this rain will be backing off by then.

Bring a flotation device, just in case!
Here in Bristol I live across the street from a field with a creek that is used as an overflow area. I think this is the second time in ten years that the field looks more like a giant pond and comes all the way up to the actual roadway.

As some of you know, I'm traveling across the country. I've never seen such crazy weather in all my years. It's been raining a LOT in Southern California. It snowed in Vegas. The Midwest has been hit with everything but rivers of blood. I'm in PA and there's gusts up to 60 mph.

To answer the original question, I've never seen it this bad in Knoxville.

The TN river stayed within its banks near my house. I've seen it once in 1985 (?) when it crested the banks and lapped at some porches. I'd think TVA is getting better at controlling the water level but I had lunch today with a woman who lives in a subdivision on the Holston river and said neighbors who had canoes laying in the yard woke up to see the water had crested the banks and the canoes had floated away!

Teh Googel shows 7 days of the 10 day forecast to be sunny so yay!

I'm enjoying the crisp clear air mass. If anyone with a good camera and skilz can take a photo of the smokies and post it on the current Knoxville vs Chattanooga thread it would be appreciated.
