Hello. My husband just started at ORNL today and my girls and I will be coming in June. I am in need of some suggestions for a good family doctor, a good pediatrician, and a good Rhuematologist or a Dr. who has good knowledge of Fibromyalgia. Although I won't be arriving until June, we need to choose one in the Oak Ridge area now so that I can get out of network insurance coverage now to continue being seen while in VA. Any info. is greatly appreciated!

I love my Oak Ridge doctor but he's an internist. If you want his name, send me a direct message. I have the Tennessee version of Blue Cross for feds and he's a preferred provider.

Hey there!!

Best pediatrics we found was Oak Ridge Pediatrics. We see Dr. Stephens, but I've heard good things about the others.

Summit Medical here in Oak Ridge is where my hubby and I go. Dr. Alexander has been great.

Sorry I don't know anything about the Fibromyalgia, but if I hear anything I'll post. Good luck!

Chrisgirl, it has been my experience with many, many relocations that if you find a wonderful internist that you really feel confident in, he/she will be an excellent source of other referrals.

Good doctors, like good teachers, good parents, good mechanics, tend to know, hang out and recommend each other.

Start with your most basic need with a good doctor and that doctor can steer you in the right direction for a rheumy for the fibromyalgia. (I have a wonderful one here if you don't mind the 4 hr. drive!)

For a good family doctor, you can't beat Scott Davis at the Oliver Springs Family Clinic. My mom, aunt, uncle, and grandparents who live in Oak Ridge all use him and can't say enough good things about him. They were referred to him years ago by several people at their church who consistently sing his praises, so it's safe to say that he has a reputation as an A+ doctor.

I don't know the names of any pediatricians offhand, and I'm not even sure what a rheumatologist is and I'm too lazy to look it up, but my experience is that once you find a good G.P., he'll be able to steer you to the right specialists.

Best information you've gotten. It's how I got set up with docs in the last place I lived.
