What is the real estate market currently like in Knoxville and surrounding areas? Is it like the majority of the US where it is too hot for buyers to find a place?

I'm considering relocating from out of state, but I don't want to end up homeless if the housing market is too competitive.

I would be looking for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage, under 1/3 acre between 1100 to 1400 square feet under $275K. If needed I could settle for a 2 bedroom 1 bath one- car garage if it had enough space like den or basement.

This article summarizes it well:

I suggest that you rent first. Once you get a "feel" for different areas, you can start a more targeted search.
