LOL. My hubby and I will definitely take part in that decision making process! Red Velvet Cake - here I come.

And thanks sooo much for posting those pictures! Great, great, great.

As a nature lover I will point you to outdoorsy activities. 1st is Ijams nature center off Island home pike. I hope you are good with maps because the boardwalk is not to be missed. Next is the UT gardens off Neyland drive.

Then you must visit the Smoky mountains. Here's my favorite "starter hike". Take 129 to 321 and go straight through Townsend, turn right at the Y inside the park then the first left takes you to tremont, follow that road to the very end and hike 1/2 a mile to a sweet little waterfall. Not too crowded, not too steep. If you can handle a traffic jam in the wilderness go back and go to Cades cove. Lots of pioneer cabins, stunning scenery, deer, trukeys and an occasional bear.

Creeksitter - agree with your post! When my son and I need to talk things out we head to Ijams for a small hike. We then have to go to Calhouns for a bite to eat.

Smile I have to bookmark this thread.

This has turned out to be a great thread. I know, JMT, that you have posted your pictures before, but they are just as much fun the second time around.

And, now with Indychic (can't believe you're here already!) and Hik in the neighborhood we are all getting a refresher course on the joys of places to eat, things to do, parks to visit and wonderful respites in the area.

Plus, dare we hope, 3 places now that have delicious Red Velvet Cake. (It must be capitalized - it has a life of its own now!)

I would assume that catching a UT sporting event is a must-see, but no one mentioned it!

I'm a big football fan - so I think I'm going to get the Vols Football Season Ticket package.

Indychic: They have one of those Five Guys places in Powell. It is off of Emory, near St. Mary's Hospital.

I haven't tried it yet, but I hear they are wonderful!

Don't make the mistake of ordering large fries - I've never seen so many in my life.

The other Five Guys is in Alcoa (by PetSmart). It's not quite Cheeburger Cheeburger, but it'll do.

What is so great about red velvet cake? sounds gross. And if it's red, what on earth kind of dye are you eating?

I am a nature lover, so I hate to say that Ijams was lame. I see more birds in my yard. But I will give it another try - maybe when everything's blooming. There were no flowers, no color anywhere.
