Hey hiknapster, the 2 largest in state, are State Farm and Farm Bureau. Both offer rates for your whole package, and both are best in service, way above the rest. A great agent I use with State Farm is Mansour Hasan in West Knoxville, and a great Farm Bureau agent is David Lawrence, also in West Knoxville.

We got insurance from Grange through the Butcher broker in Fountain City and it was the best deal we could find. We do save money on getting insurance for the cars and house from the same place, but I don't know the details since that's something the wife has been taking care of.

I typically like to recommend the big three in the insurance world (State Farm, Allstate, Farm Bureau in TN )for easy enough reasons. One, they do allow umbrella policies in lumping together home policies and auto. Two, they have typically the best coverage available. And lastly, and typically most importantly, they are the easiest to deal with I have found when involved in a claim. They pay out their claims in a timely manner, as opposed to some of the less expensive companies that can draw out some out their claims. This can be a major concern, especially when dealing with a major home issue.

Well, a rep from State Farm is going to call me. He already works with my mortgage broker, so it will probably go easier. As long as the quote is not astronomical, I will probably go with him.

I agree. 293 seems quite low for homeowners, pending the size of the house. Do you live across the street from the fire department or any other emergency services? I would look closely at the coverage policy to ensure you have the adequate protection you do want in case of emergency.

I went with State Farm. Nice guy named Mansour Hasan. The home is about $679 and the autos are about $700 a year. He quoted about $600 for the cars, but I had him up the liability, since we will now own a home.

I was very satisfied.

It was easy to cancel Progressive. They were very gracious. They wanted to know why I didn't go with them and I explained that our insurance kept going up, while our credit rating kept going up, too. She asked if we would reconsider in another six months, and I said yes, I would. They were very nice about the whole thing.
