Gonna be down next week scoping retirement locations. Any good local joints to recommend?

Not sure how far you want to go for BBQ, but I highly recommend Smokeys here in Dandridge. Fair prices and heaping portions of excellent food.
Enjoy
Pam

If you are near Sevierville there is a place called Gore's on Hiwy 66 which is really good. Homemade desserts too and he smokes everything right there.

I've been to Famous Dave's several times, located in west Knoxville off of I40. I thought the food and the service were very good.

We too have been to Famou Dave's and loved the food as well as the service. And, the salmon is to die for!! Yes, at a bbq place.

Personally, I vote for Calhoun's, especially the one down by the River. It can be tricky to get to, but the neat thing is, it's downtown and there are plenty of things to see/places to go.
