My husband has just accepted a job offer at ORNRL, which we are both very excited about. I need some suggestions on areas to start searching for relocation. We are looking to rent, since we are going to keep our place in Charleston, SC-the housing market here is terrible.

So, ideally we are looking for a West Knoxville/Farragut neighborhood with access to nearby shops, organic food store, parks and trails.
I would love to be within walking distance of these things.

We are thinking about renting a condo or townhouse. Any suggestions would be great. thanks

I guess the qualifier is just how far you are willing to walk.

Organic food can be found at Earth Faire and The Fresh market, but a lot of the mainstream markets also have a limited selection of organic foods too.

Turkey creek has Earth Faire, a great trail system that runs from Lovell Road to Campbell Station and lots of shops. However, even shopping within Turkey Creek can be quite a haul from one end to the other.
Over Christmas break I walked from Target to Verizon to Panera Bread, to Borders, to Starbucks, then to Earth Faire, then back to the car near Target. While it was good exercise, I didn't have bags to carry. But there really isn't any condos that close to Turkey Creek.

There are condos close to The Fresh Market on Kingston Pike, but not much else as far as shops close by.

Spend some time driving around, or have someone show you where things are, then you will have an idea of what would be a good fit for you.

You might try Park Place in Farragut. At least the architecture will look very familiar.

Hey doglover22, a great place to stay, would be the Lanesborough apts, located right beside Turkey Creek, as we stayed there about a year, while we decided to build. It has a great walking trail, and bikikng, and only minutes from Turkey Creek. Its right off the Campbell Station rd, turn right onto Smith Rd, and very nice with Club house, workout room, pool and tennis courts. Good luck.

Default West Knoxville Apartment Community

If you are open to apartment life - Windover Apartment Homes is great. I have lived there off and on since the 1980's. They have 1 or 2 BR gardens and 2 and 3 BR townhomes. Some 2 BR gardens have stackable washer-dryer and the townhomes do have the connections. They allow pets. Walking is great - West Town Mall, The Shops at Deane Hill, Fast Food Restaurants, The Gallery. It is on a bus-line. I thought about buying a condo but found that nothing compared to location and amentities that Windover offers. And no I do not work for them!
