We are relocating to the Knoxville area and we are looking for housing for a family of four. We looked at a few houses for rent in the West Knoxville/Karns areas and we weren't really happy with them. We have two toddlers and really want a decent rental with a fenced yard but we have been unable to find one. Since we haven't found what we like, we are thinking of staying at the Forest Ridge Apartments until then. Has anyone stayed there? What has been your experience there? Is it a decent place for a family?

Hey nutravler, one of my clients stayed there until we were able to find their perfect home, and I visited there many times in meeting them and they loved it, and I was impressed with the clean look and they had no complaints. They allowed dogs, as they had 2 large ones, and the setting and location worked well, as they commuted to Oak Ridge, and put them an easy drive to Pellissippi. Welome to Knoxville, and I believe you would like the ammenties and the setting.

We've had few people on the forum, over the years, that stayed there and liked it. It's particularly popular with short-term rental it seems, based on forum responses.

I think the area is just great. Near Karns but with easy access to the highway but not too close to major roads. I also think the complex is pretty. We really considered living there when we first moved here but we were uncertain on how things would work out (we did very well!).

You may have already seen their website but if not or for the curious:

We stayed there while we were house hunting. There are a number of kids in the complex + a play area, movie theatre, pools + fitness center.

It was fine as short term housing---fairly quiet and conveniently located to Knox and ORNL.

A co-worker of mine lives there and she loves it. Its quiet and the neighbors are quiet.

We are currently staying in a town home which is located in a neighborhood called Church Hill Downs which we absolutely love. Its quiet and we still have that neighborhood feel I missed when we moved here and its in the Karns Ballcamp area.

Its 2 bedrooms only downside when you have two kids and are used to a four bedroom house but the neighbors here are super friendly and it has a neighborhood pool and even with apt living I love it because our kids have a neighborhood and a lot of kids here to play with. Its quiet and safe and rent is 600.00 a month.

Shay properties if your looking for something short term we signed a 6 month lease and pay month to month great folks.

Back to the top! I'm considering a move there in the next couple weeks and didn't know if anyone else had any thoughts? I appreciate the help in advance.

Well, rather than having you sitting around waiting for a reply, I've given you a couple of links where Forest Ridge has been mentioned in the past. Like I said before, as far as I know, and I'm a longtime regular, no one has ever complained about them.

I'm not sure exactly what area/budget you're looking at, but my sister-in-law lives in the Walker Springs apartment complex and it's really worked well for her. The apartments are a little more dated, but still maintained well (e.g. kitchen cabinets are dated but it has new carpet/paint/appliances). The apartments are reasonably priced compared to others in the area. The best benefit, however, is the location. The Walker Springs county park is right next to the complex and it has a playground and walking path. It is a very quiet, well-established area but only 5 minutes to I-40 / Kingston Pike.
