Comcast also has a Comcast Cares crew. That's probably the same folks that "Suffering" dealt with. They are out of Philly.

All of their local calls use to be routed to the Knoxville office. Now they are sent all around the country and at night through 8 p.m. they are sent to The Philippines. That's a waste of time. Honestly, at this point I would stick with just using Comcast Cares. You'll better off for it. Knoxville's office, at least the call center, looks to be closing. They've already got rid of their dispatchers. Everything now goes through Chattanooga. And their sales department is closing August 22. They've dropped their pay even lower, now, and most people moved on to greener pastures.

A word to the wise ! Remember when your contract runs out !!! I had a lady who worked for me in the office and she paid my bills too. A bill from Knology was laying on my desk so I opened the statement that had my monthly bill and it was 174.00 with change. I ask the women working for me and she said that was what she had paid for the last year. I called Knology to express my concern and stated why was my 99.00 bundle package 174.00 ? that all new clients entered in on and I had been very prompt for years. She sent me to someone else and they sent me to someone who sent me to someone and at the end of the day nobody did anything about it. They pointed the finger at me for not calling them early on ? Here is my question ? I'm a business Man and I try to stay on top of my game but what about Mrs. Jones that is well up into her age and has no clue ! Does she get charged that upcharge until someone like me writes a letter to Don Dare or our Congressman. And is it fare that a new client walks in at now 84.00 per month.

Be careful !

My family uses either Knology, Comcast and Charter (depending on where we live). All of us have good luck with our respective providers.

THANK YOU! Given that situations change in service and plans, I really appreciate the current feedback.

My former Internet service continued going downhill. We just switched to Verizon, but there have been connection problems.

The bigger issue has been usage. When we signed up for Verizon, we described how we used Internet: we download some documents & photos, but rarely video (even if it is just a 2 minute clip), visit websites & send email. We did not sign up for Internet on our cell phones. We are online anywhere from 1-9 hours a day, put the average is probably 4 hours daily.

The rep said 3G should be more than enough, but 9 days in to the first month of use, we had used up 50 percent of that. We contacted them a couple days ago and they said some sort of specialist would call us back in a week or more.

We have Charter with no problems - but the first year was at a lower rate, then the rate did climb.

Uverse is most likely going to be your best bet if you have unlimited funds and don't mind being mis-informed on just about every issue when it comes to being billed. We get around 35-40mbp download here in knoxville consistently.

However, they've made several promises A.K.A. 1 year "contractional" locked in rates at $115/month for our cable tv and internet and after 1 year of service when I went back and researched all of my bills (which were being paid by auto draft - we have several accounts with them and spend roughly $9000/year with ATT) I discovered that their locked in 1 year rate of $115/month had averaged out to $170/month for the entire year with no additions by us such as paid movie rentals.

It's the same racket with cell phones through att. They offer the best actual product as in the phone service/internet speed/cable tv, but they are in no way shy to completely lie to you on their promises over the phone on prices. After realizing this and digging around, we found that on every one of our personal and business cells we were being handled the same way.

Try to call in and speak to someone and you will spend an hour being passed from department to department where you'll finally speak to someone who speaks english fluently and he/she will say something like this, " We did lock you into the promotional discount for the term of 1 year, however, when our service rates were increased, your overall bill did increase as well. We are still giving you the agreed to discount off of our regular rate."
- they said to me originally and i quote, " if you agree to a year as our customer, we can lock you into this rate of $115/month for the entire year no strings attached..."
- and that's if you're lucky enough to survive the 1 hr phone call where you will be passed off from this department to the next, most often being disconnected at some point. I'm not one to jump to thinking some of these larger companies have extremely ruthless business policies and protocol for their employees put into place, but I think it's safe to say these guys have gotten much too big (they were busted up by anti-trusts years ago and have now made their way almost completely back into the same companies) and are now playing a numbers game with misrepresenting agreements to customers and then opting toward a circular, completely nonsensical way of handling customers complaints once the customer has figured them out.

In closing, if money is no object and you want the absolute best service to your home and cell network; go with ATT.
If you are a bit more frugal, or perhaps even your time is worth more than the minimum wage they will be paying someone to coddle you with lies every time you call in to dispute an invoice, then go somewhere else for your service. AT&T will gladly pay those robots with scripts to bore you into delirium; it's worth the $50/month extra they're squeezing in on you every month..........

Last edited by milopian1243; 01-05-2014 at 04:31 AM.. Reason: coddle isn't a word that should be used twice in the same paragraph- ha
