Hi all,

I'm trying to plan our trip up. What's the best time of year to visit East TN? Is June a good month, or would it be better to come in late August/early September?

Thank you!

If weather is the main consideration, mid-September through late October is probably best.

Thank you! Is it pretty green and nice at this time of year, June/July? Also, what time of year do the leaves start to change?

This year it appears to be exceptionally green due to the rainfall we've gotten. It looks great right now.

As for the leaves, it's hard to say for sure, but late October/November seems like a good guess.

Peak season for leaf color changing depends on the temps and moisture. but November 1, + or - a couple of days is about right for Knoxville proper. Some surrounding counties will usually.be a bit earlier.

When we were searching for places to move, we visited Knoxville in July. I picked that time because that's when it's very hot and humid and I wanted to see if I could stand it.

I say the best time is from the 3rd week of Oct till about the 3rd week of November.

I agree with Barking Spider, except I would say all of October is the best. Third week of November is pushing it a little.

Spring time can be beautiful with all the blooming trees, not to warm. You'll also find out if all the pollen will affect you. Something to think about if contemplating a move.

We are in summer mode now-- hot and humid. I think spring and fall are best. Of course, last year it was in the 90s until late October, then we had a frost. So bring your shorts, sweaters and mosquito repellant and be ready to use them all.

I think the last week of October is the prettiest for fall foliage, the temps are in the 60s or upper 50s so if you plan to do a lot of sightseeing, you'll be comfortable walking around a lot, plus the kids are in school meaning if you visit someplace in the middle of the week there will be less people.

August? No way! Too hot and humid for doing a lot of walking around.
