I am trying to spell it out for you and help you as best that I can.
The links are good but they don't really tell me what kind of people live there (low income, middle class), or if there is a homeless population. Is it safe to walk around at night? What color are my neighbors going to be? Is there going to be 10 mexican families living in one house? Sorry to be so blunt but some of you guys know the answer to these questions and I don't, so I have to ask.

Does Fountain City have houses and neighborhoods like we are looking for?

//www.city-data.com/zips/37917.html

This page should give you a bit of info. There is a chart with the demographics on it and it clearly shows a huge population of Caucasions.

It's more than just East Town. It goes almost to I-275.

Well, I am pretty frustrated. I looked up literally 100 houses in the 37917 & 37918 zip codes on google map and I am a little disappointed at what I saw. The houses and the surrounding neighborhoods on the real time view looked really run down. I even went over one street to see if the scenery changed and it didn't. The yards are not well maintained and the roads and sidewalks are broken up in places on almost every house I looked at.

I am very sad.

I can't imagine how sad you'll be when you discover that we also have blacks and Mexicans in the 37917 and 37918 ZIP codes.

I live smack in the middle of the 37917 ZIP code on a street with blacks and Mexicans. There is zero crime in my neighborhood and lots of happy people.

I don't have a problem with blacks or mexicans, just don't want 10 families living together in one house. It brings down the property values. I have a mexican family living next door to me and have never had a problem with them. Their daughter sneaks out of her bedroom window at night but who am I to judge. Just want to know who my neighbors are that's all. Am I living in a melting pot or a predominately white (red neck) neighborhood? I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale....can't get any more mixed than that.

That's the key to happiness in Knoxville. We are team players here. We are kind to one another and get along with each other no matter what ethnic or any other kind of background that we come from.

I don't live in either zip code but I guarantee you that there are houses in both areas that you cannot afford. And I am quite certain that the people that reside there would not appreciate your description. Rudeness in this town is not tolerated.

Knoxville just may not work out for you.

I laughed.

Fountain City's an awesome area. If you don't like it, then you truely don't want what you've been claiming, period.

You'll have better luck just letting your daughter choose.
