Anyone ever rent ATVs and take them around the Smokies on trails? I was wondering if there is a company set up that rents out ATVs for something like that.

Definitely. The ones in the Smokies are guided tours. This is one place, google for others:

I don't know if they rent ATVs, but they can probably tell you how to rent one.
There are quite a few ATV resorts around, in the Smokies as well as around Big South Fork and Obed Wilderness.
I had seen one last year about this time where they did rent ATVs. It was up near the Kentucky line. I really wanted to go.

ATV Rides
We have done the Bluff Mountain ATV rentals a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it. The guided trail ride lasts about 90 mintes and at one point on the trip you have a birds eye view overlooking about 25 miles of natural beauty. If you like the outdoors you will certainly enjoy the ride
