It is a little dip in the road between St. Clair and Moorsburg. Maybe it is not an official "town" just a sign on the road? Never thought to look it up. Was just through there last Friday, nice ride from Rogersville on 113..well until we got into Morristown. That part of town always looks so run down.

Thanks to everyone that responded. It was all very helpful. I think I'll stay away from that area. I'll continue checking other areas to purchase land. Sounds like there's many much nicer areas. We don't have a job lined up, so there would be no purpose for us to move to Morristown.

Dear Friends:
After over 15 years living in Mexico, my wife and I finally settled on a home in Bristol, TN. Imagine my dismay when I saw the following article--

32 arrested in Morristown drug ring bust

Seeking Work in Morristown, Tenn. - The New York Times
Thanks hiknapster. After looking at those, it gave me a fairly good idea of Morristown.

So how do you like Bristol? Have you been there long? I have also considered checking that area out. Never been there, but seems nice from the reasearch I've done. I know work is bad everywhere, but it seems there is more work in Knoxville then Bristol area.

I don't get it. How would that affect you? Morristown is 80 miles away from Bristol. It's out there in the middle of nowhere.

Bufford: We love Knoxville. We've been here for four years.

We had considered the smaller towns of East TN, since I am used to living in very, very small towns. We even rented out in the country on the Knox/Anderson County line. It wasn't for us. I am so surprised that we ended up buying in Knoxville and that it has turned out to be the smartest move we ever made.

It's not like a city that you would imagine. It seems more like an overgrown town. Lots of welcoming folk. Lots and lots of things to do. Good schools. (Country schools are iffy at best) Affordable. It's rural about 10 minutes out of town.

The recession barely hit us and jobs are starting to open up a bit.

If you are a single, attractive female then Morristown is a bad place. It seems like everywhere one goes in that town, there are Latinos hanging out. A work acquaintance of mine had to walk into the Wal-Greens on the main drag with his girlfriend and there were about 15 Mexicans waiting to check out. He said that all the males looked at his girlfriend and wolf-whistled and catcalled her and grabbed themselves. He turned around and they walked out.

Hiknapster,
So you are in Fountain City? Is that actually a part of the city of Knoxville? Where did you move from 4 years ago? We would like to buy land & later build, I have never looked into Knoxville, only small towns around it. We probably should consider it because we will both need to work. I have seen land in Knoxville on the internet, but not sure what kind of areas they are in. We like rural, but still would like grocery stores, etc. near by. Thanks for the help.

Greeneguy,
That's terrible! A female probably wouldn't even need to be attractive. I've been in areas that being female was all it takes to get them all fired up! Is it all over town or just certain areas? I'm not racist, but that's ridiculous.
