I was just in East Tn this week touring christian schools. All nice schools but the one I feel that would be the better for my kids is in east Knoxville area. We come from a county of 98,546 population and Knox Co. has (gulp) 430,019 !!! This will be a huge change for us . I would like some opinions of some towns near east knoxville (maybe within 30 min drive ? ) We live in a rural/country area (dollar store, 2 gas stations, and 1 family owned place to eat ) and my drive to the city is about 15 min., most everyone is friendly, low crime rate, and courteous drivers. Any small towns like this that wouldn't be to far of a drive to east knoxville ??

Actually, East Knox County is VERY rural. You can live in East Knox County and be miles from anything. Check out the Kimberlin Heights, Thorn Grove, and Marbledale communities. I used to live on Thorngrove Pike between Marbledale and Thorn Grove, and it was amazingly rural: gorgeous farm land, beautiful views, a general store here and there, and really, really nice people.

Agree with JMT,and if you still need places to check, try Jefferson City, Straw Plains, Kodak, and lots of choices. Good luck.

Agreed. East Knox Co. is the least populated area of Knox Co. Check out New Market/Strawberry Plains/Jefferson City. One of the few areas near town where you can still see tobacco fields, corn, and cattle. You can live a more rural lifestyle, yet be 30 mins. from shopping, restaurants, etc.

Well that sure sounds like here ! I was hoping for some mountain views. Would that be more likely in Dandridge or in these areas mentioned too ? Thank you all for these suggestions !

Default You're more likely

to find mountain views and log cabins in Dandridge, not so much in Knoxville. But Dandridge, Jefferson City and that area is quite a drive to E Knoxville if you're making the drive daily. Seymour is a very nice area also and not nearly as far as Dandridge. Good luck on your move here, East TN is a wonderful and beautiful area.

I've been looking at apts. and homes for rent in all these areas. I know their is alot of tourist traffic in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge (that would be to far of a drive anyways ) but I was wondering about the drive from Sevierville to Seymour on 411 and the drive from Sevierville to I40 on 338? Is I40 pretty smooth going ? I drove on I40 from Knoxville and hit 81 to go to Johnson city when I was there , from what I can remember it was pretty smooth going on I40 ? Thanks for the help ...
