My husband and I are considering a move to the Knoxville area. We'd like to buy a small hobby farm within 45 minutes of Knox. We'd like to live in a "nice" area.... anyone have any suggestions of neat local towns or area's that we might want to look into?

Thanks!

Grab a map and toss a dart at it. Anything around Knoxville will qualify. There are many places with a distinctive flavor and some will appeal to one person and not another. You need to visit and allow a good amount of time just to drive around each area. Then make a list of what is important to you and mark each item on a scale as you look around. Mind you beauty will be a "10" everywhere. My wife and i did that and it worked great for us.

As Leonard said, the entire Knoxville area is beautiful. It would be hard to steer you in a particular direction since it's all nice.

However, since you mentioned "neat local towns" I do have a few towns you might want to investigate that are all well within 45 minutes of Knoxville:

Dandridge
Kingston
Norris
Sweetwater

Okay, thank you for the advice! We're planning to head down there this weekend and will be exploring the vicinity? Is Maryville a nice town?

Yes. A little more expensive than Knoxville, but nice. I've never figured out why it is more expensive. Lots and lots of nice areas in Knoxville, too.
