South Knoxville definitely would have more homes in the OP's price range although they will be very small (probably 2BR/1BA).

I really, honestly don't think the OP will find what he wants in Knoxville proper. I can't think of any neighborhoods in the city that have large homes for $70k and very little crime. There are some bargains in East Knoxville but then there's the crime factor to deal with, not to mention the schools.

Do you have a job where you are now?

Do you have plenty of money to live on if you move to an area with out a job?

I never can understand why people ask all kinds of questions about re-locating and mention--a job-- last.

If one can re-locate and finding a job is a low priority, you are fortunate.

To be honest I'm looking right now,I won't be moving until probably 2yrs but I would like to get a head start and find places which are affordable to me.What I plan to do in rent or stay in an apartment and then buy a house for around 75k.I live in W.V and I work for Auto Zone.My wife is in college right now getting her accounting degree she either wants to open up her own bakery or work at a bank or something like that. I'm leaning towards Rogersville because I check out their prices on their homes and there were nice homes for under 70k I probably seen 10 or so homes for that so.I believe it will work out. I just want some places I can visit this summer to check them out.I also like Mayardville and Friendville.

Always good to research. It's fun, too!

Just remember that in two years a lot can change. Things remain very consistent in East Tennessee, but who knows. Maybe an auto plant will open up in Rogersville and prices will go through the roof.

Are you still in school?

Here is another thought, I believe most chains like Auto Zone, you can transfer to a store in the town/state you are looking to move to. When and opening comes up, they prefer to higher within. Same for Lowe's and such stores.
Another note, I didn't realize that you were currently living in W.V. you will see an increase of cost of living between W.V. and TN. That is one of those few states that has a cheaper cost of living than TN generally.

Matt,
Google is your friend. I googled Autozone store locaters and came up with a ton in the Knox area.I think that is how you should approach your research. First find where Auto zone is located, narrow it down to a few places, then research those areas on CD, google and real estate sites.
You want us to do your research for you. You have 2 years before you plan to move, why not come check it out for yourself? Only you can decide which place feels right to you. And much can change in 2 years too. Why not choose a store in Knoxville, find an apartment to rent with or without a lease and once you are here you can research in person where you'd like to buy a home. You could always transfer to a different store after you decide where you want to end up.
I think the method you are pursueing now is going to turn many people off and they'll quit answering your questions. Which won't be helpful to you in the long run. You are at the point in your process where your mind will change many times when something pops up that appeals to you or it doesn't. It would seem that right now you need to visit and settle on a place and then research from there.
All the best to you,
Pam

Look I don't want anyone to do the work for me.I'm not asking that,I'm just asking if they know what is in Rogersville.I have been looking at Rogersville and trying to figure out what I need to do.I'm just asking questions and if someone thinks that I'm trying do make you do the research by all means don't answer my questions.I just need some help.
