I currently live in Union City, TN and would like to relocate to the Knoxville area. Where is the best place to find employers and available jobs? I have a maintenance manager/ mechanic background in manufacturing and my wife would like to start a business also. I would like to have suggestions as to where to look for a place to live. I'm thinking between Seymore and Dandridge or the (Kingston, Lenoir city, Farragut area). Also, are there any advantages/ disatvantages to the different counties in these areas?

Thanks in advance!

Hey tt69camaro, I would say you need to decide on what your best chance for work would be, and then would help in driving to and from. The Seymour area is sort of rural, as is parts of Dandridge. Lots of new construction and new developments in Lenior City for shopping. As far as advantages, all depends on what type of ammenites your looking for. Good luck, and keep us posted.

yeah Lenoir City / Kingston area might be good for you. I think Kingston area is pretty rural, and LC is "bustling" so you have the best of both worlds.

Try University of Tennessee:
Employment - All Positions
And TVA:
TVA: Jobs in Energy, Environmental Science, Economic Development
They both have huge physical plants to maintain.

I have my own business, as does my husband. Are you talking about permits, or what? It's pretty painless to start a business in Tennessee. Not lots and lots of redtape.

I always send people to SCORE for advice. It's free!

I am considering a few different types of businesses. Rental properties, fast food/ ice cream place, fabrication shop. I need to look into what is needed more so I can focus my efforts on that business.

I think I've narrowed things down to Sevierville and Maryville. I need to take another trip out there again Friday. What are the taxes? No State tax? What is the best resource for finding Foreclosures?
