Hi, didn't find a forum for sevierville, pigeon forge, or Gatlinburg, have to post it here. Some of you may be cabin owners and could help me out. We are in process to buy a cabin and plan to rent it out for visitor's short term stay when we don't use it. I found it's hard to get an insurance coverage for this type of vacation home on rental. Anyone has the experience and could refer me to insurance companies that offer coverages? Any suggestion will be highly appreciated! Carrie

Hi Carrie,

We have a rental cabin in Gatlinburg and I think our insurance company is Ohio Mutual. It's paid in escrow w/our mortgage, just like for our primary house.

Good luck w/your new cabin!

Robin

Hi Carrie,

I have a friend who is an Insurance Agent with Farmers'. I will give him a call to see if he does this type of coverage. I will send you a message with his name & number.

I would also like to hear more about your rental cabin. May be interested in renting it sometime.

Lynn

I currently have a cabine in Gatlinburg. I have filed two insurance claims, either of them were my fault. One was in January 2010 totalling around $40,000. It was an extremely cold winter in 2010 and a pipe busted, Would you believe that in January 2011 a defective pipe in the third floor bathroom busted. That claim was about $60,000. Needless to say, my insurance company dropped me (I can't say that I am not surprised. I need to find an insurance company that will not charge an arm and a leg. I got one quote for insurance for $2,151.00 per year. I used to pay $891.00. Anyone with suggestiona?

You can contact my homeowners insurance agent. I asked him about Rental Property Insurance and he has told me in the past this is something he can write a policy for. We switched our homeowners over to Farmers and was able save $$$$$ from our previous Liberty Mutual. Definitly worth giving him a call.

We also have Farmers and have been unable to find lower rates. That said, considering you've had two fairly recent claims totalling around $100,000 you probably should be considering which arm AND leg you can live without

We have all of our insurance thru Irving Rosenbloom. His number is 584-1153 ext 6109.
We were with another large company for over 20 years and he saved us a pile of $$$.
