I'm thinking about renting my cabin in the Gatlinburg area. Home owners is not good enough so I need short term rental insurance. Anyone know a good company to call ?

Hey Bob, the largest property insurer in state is Farm Bureau, and you will only be able to insure your contents and personal belongings, as owner of the rental unit, can only insure that. All the major companies, will also write you, so get many quotes.

Bob,

I have Farm Bureau and they will not write a policy if you rent it. I have asked several but all tell me that I must go with a rental agency. I only want to rent to friends at a low rate but it is not easy to find insurance.

Thanks Bob

Default Renters Insurance

There are many sites online that you can go to for a quote on renters insurance. For example renters insurance .

Try Farmers Mutual. It is a local company right here in town.

Bob,

I used to have a cabin in Gatlinburg and I used the rental agency's insurance company. They were more than willing to write a policy.

Try contacting a few of the rental companies and tell them your situation and see what you come up with. I am also going to suggest that you check with a real estate attorney in your area who may be able to point you in the right direction.

I know that for the fall race here in Bristol we have several folks who rent out their houses for that weekend only, most owners carry State Farm insurance. You could call the local agent here in Bristol (Jerry Greene) and see how they do it.

Lastly, I'd like to become friends so that I can rent from you at a low cost !!! I miss my cabin

Hi Bob!

If you don't mind passing along the info, I'd like to know what you do decide to go with. The reason I ask is that my husband and I are looking at a few foreclosure cabins that we are interested in purchasing in Gatlinburg, mainly so we can use it and our friends, but we'd rent it out as well, to help pay off the note.

Best of luck to you!
Mrs. M.

Farm Bureau is our insurance company and re-wrote the policy on our house as a rental when we moved to a new house and later, when we moved back in, they rewrote it to be owner occupied again with no problem.
