Not sure if this is the best forum for my question...but here it goes. I am travelling from KY to South Carolina in a couple of weeks. I heard that I-75 South has delays due to a collapse/construction at the KY / TN line.

Does anyone know what type of delay is typical when driving southbound through that area? I would expect to be hitting this stretch around 8:00 or 9:00 AM on a Sunday.

Thanks!

I'll qualify my reply by saying that I am not local to the area of the slide.

However, these links may be of help:

You may want to consider going east from Corbin through Middlesboro and on to pick up I-26 at Kingsport. With all the rain we have been having I am surprised another mountainside hasn't slid off and semi-permanently closed I-40 down at the Tn/NC line. Looks like there are some lane closures in that area on I-40 currently. Plus, you get to miss Knoxville traffic- yea!

I'm not from the area either but we have crossed the KY/TN border twice recently while visiting from NY, once at the end of June and again last week. Both trips we passed the construction on the way in and on our way out (on I75). Neither slowed us down significantly, but they do have it down to one lane. We didn't have any problems but I'm sure there are times when it can get backed up if you get an extra-cautious driver.

I wouldn't think that early on a Sunday you would have any problems.

Hello! I just came through there Saturday, had to go to Ohio to visit family. It was down to one lane going southbound, this is just past Stinking Creek Road. The delay was 30 minutes, around 4pm on a Saturday. As soon as we passed Rarity Mountain it slowed down.

However, I just noticed today, on WBIR's website that two lanes are now open southbound. When we came through there on Saturday they were laying asphalt, so I was hoping they'd be finished soon!! Apparently they are!

I'm happy since my class reunion is coming up at the end of September and it's back to Ohio for that trip. I am glad we won't be sitting still on 75!

I think you will be ok; they did a great job getting the road back together. Happy travels!
