It's been a long time coming, but wow, it looks like it was worth the wait. Downtown, Old City specifically, will open a grocery store next Friday. It's called Aisle Nine and it looks very, very cool.

I wish there was a photo! Sounds great. Might not be big enough for all the stuff they want to carry!

That's great. I can't wait to go check it out! We were downtown last night at the Tennessee to see Kathy Griffin. I hadn't been down there in a year or so. Lots of new things popping up. I'm really proud of Knoxville. Ya'll are doing a great job with the economic development.

Well, I rarely drink, including beer, but I think this is great for folks that live downtown and have been begging for a grocery store and it is also good for people that work in the area or went out for a bit but wanted to pick up steak or some milk before they went home.

The effects may be more than that, though. Once people see businesses like this popping up in downtown, it's gonna be like a funnel. More and more people should be living, shopping, working, playing in downtown and eventually a continuous urban fabric is gonna develop.

I agree. Nice to see our first downtown grocery store is a cool, funky one.
