Hi everyone! I had another post on here about relocating from FL but at the time my husband was going to be working in downtown Knoxville...he will now be working in Morristown. I am not thrilled at all with the research I have found on that area and need ideas for other areas to relocate my family. I have 3-yr-old twin boys and I really want an area that has a great school system, family-friendly and safe! I considered Jefferson City, but have read in other forums that it is not the friendliest city to "outsiders". I'm a social kind of girl and would love to be able to make new friends for myself and my family! I have read also about Fountain City, which I believe is north of Knoxville (?) and it sounds like a nice place. Not having to drive 5000 miles to get to some decent shopping, pediatricians, grocery store, restaurants, etc, would be great also! Any help and advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!!

Fountain City is in North Knoxville. Plenty of shopping, good schools and a safe area. Plenty of restaurants in that area and St. Mary's downtown( now Mercy off of Broadway) has tons of Doctor offices in the Towers.
Jefferson City is ok but it doesn't have all the things that will be convient if you live in Fountain City. I used to live in Dandridge. Dandridge is small compared to Jeff City and I never noticed a difference in the friendliness factor. I was never treated rudely or badly there.
I guess it all depends on if you want to live in the city of Knoxville or a larger small town? To me Knoxville is like a big overgrown town, I love living in this city. I'm in NorthEast Knoxville.
All the best in your search,
Pam

I live in Fountain City and if you are really friendly it would be a good fit. However, it is an hour to Morristown from my house. That's a horrible commute.

Morristown isn't that bad. Stay to the west of the center. There are some nice areas along Andrew Johnson Highway (11E) and plenty of shopping and amenities. Look in the area near Panther Creek state park and the country club.
Two other possible towns with a decent commute would be Rogersville and Greeneville. Both are lovely old towns.
The commute from Knoxville to Morristown isn't good. I would not recommend it.
