Picacho Ave from about Valley Drive to Motel Blvd is not a place I would walk around in even during the day. There are many halfway houses in this area and also the probation and parole office is located there so there are lots of low-lifes and crimes in that area. Take note there is a federal prison in Anthony (about 20 minutes away) and a state prison just west of Las Cruces. You might get heckled and harassed in some neighborhoods that really low-end (Mesquite St and off Solano near Madrid) but otherwise you are safe most anywhere else.
