is there a good fresh seafood market in las cruces? I don't mean the stuff most supermarkets sell, but high quality fresh fish you can take home and cook?

No.

Frozen delivered by FedEx is the best you'll do. The supermarkets occasionally have fresh fish that is passable, Toucan in particular. Salmon in season comes to mind. They have Copper River right now but it's $34/lb.

Or go catch some yourself.

I'll just buy if from Vital Choice, frozen wild salmon. That's too bad. I know there is no whole foods there, but it would have been nice to get fresh fish locally.

That's a good option, there are other choices too. I sometimes order from New Sagaya Market in Anchorage and while not cheap the quality is first rate. Halibut, mmmmm

It's a small, relatively poor city in the desert many miles from productive water. And many mile from the sort of upscale clientele that would keep a fresh market in business. It's a downside though. I always bring back as much as I can when I go to Puerto Penasco.

There's a Sprouts Farmers Market in El Paso, and they have a fresh fish section. That might work as an alternative to Whole Foods. ELP isn't that far.

No Whole Foods in El Paso either...yet. One is scheduled to open in West El Paso in 2016 - it'll be an easy drive from LC.

That's good news. Now if I can just drive around cruces without being cut off, tailgated and run off the road like in Florida, it will be great

The driving is the best part of Cruces. No matter what happens 20 min is an absolute max. I got stuck in traffic on the (under-construction) freeway because of a car crash. It added about 4 minutes to my drive.

There's also almost never a reason to go over 40 mph, which could be good or bad depending on the person. I used to think I enjoyed hectic urban driving with all of the weaving in and out and sport like competition but i was wrong it's just so much more relaxing to drive here and get to places on time with zero hurry and safely.
