Just curious as I have a possible opportunity at Fort Bliss. Is it reasonable to commute there from Las Cruces?

I've never been on I-10 during the early morning commute. I know in good traffic it's about an hour drive. I'm just more familiar with that part of NM since my father was at Holloman when I was a kid, and it seems more "home" to me than being in a large city like El Paso. If there are any other areas in between that would be a good fit, please advise.
Thx
Dave

I would think you can avoid most of I-10 by using the transmountain hwy, but I don't know what that's like in rush hour. I also don't know where you need to enter FB. I do know lots of people who work in LC and live in EP. I've never heard one say they love the drive, but never heard major gripes either.

Gotcha. The only reason I'd even consider it is because it offers telework for an unknown percentage of time. I don't think I'd want to do it every day, but if it's only 2-3 days a week I'll live.

I would endorse the Anthony Gap over Transmountain. Its shorter, faster and less wear and tear on the brake pads. It would be easily manageable and a lot of folks live here and make that commute.

K looking at the map I'm assuming that's NM 404 to NM213/FM3255?

It has a history of being one of the most dangerous roads around. Many fatals to say nothing of other accidents.

That is correct. This is a faster way to go as well as more direct. I have been using it for 15 years.

I would just relocate to El Paso and get used to the particular neighborhood that you live in. Because that's just what would happen, you'd get used to it and it would work out for you. A lot of times the things we worry about never happen - in fact, we miss out on some wonderful things by playing in to our fears.

You'll get a lot of opportunity in El Paso - you could also look at Socorro or a bedroom community - there's some nice communities north of El Paso where I'll bet you could find a nice, hopefully affordable home.
