North of Lohman Ave, to I-25, anyway. Nothing east of I-25 yet, but interesting to see the downtown area in street view.

My favorite breakfast place, Pancake Alley:
las cruces, nm - Google Maps

Who or what takes these photos? Does anyone know?

I am not sure I like this for private residences though.

Yikes, I was enjoying the privacy while it lasted. As of a couple months ago, the ONLY area covered in NM was ABQ metro.

I believe you can contact Google if your house shows up on Street View and you don't want it there - they'll take it out or blur that frame.

Yes, they are small cars with roof mounted cameras - I think 6 or 8 cameras pointing in different directions to get 360 degree shots.

You can see videos of these cars in action on Youtube and such. I guess we'll be seeing them soon enough.

By the way, I checked out Las Cruces Street View after reading this post and the images of downtown were taken at least 2 months ago. I was able to see the construction of the Federal Building downtown and all I saw was a crane and a pile of dirt. As of today there are two stories of scaffolding and iron beams.

If you look at Main St (Rt 70 from Exit 6) you'll notice the gas stations had prices around 2.79. That tells me the photography took place sometime in late September.

That's just to cool as even Alamogordo and Cloudcroft are in google street view now as the mountain roads with all the pine trees are cool to see on this. I hope they cover Mesilla and Mesilla Park soon as i wanted to look at my home when i was a kid living there with my family back in the day when i was a youngster.

I think the Alamogordo pictures are fairly old - they take a while to get them into Google after they are taken. You might review some areas for changes you know are recent.

I was looking at neighborhoods where some MLS house sale postings are - to check how things look around the houses, and several of the houses are COMPLETELY different than the current MLS pictures. A couple remodelled to almost unrecognizability. That doesn't happen overnight, and coupled with the fact that most of the pictures show a lot of yards with Christmas decorations just going up (or down) and pretty brown grass (cold weather look about everything - trees bare, etc), I almost guess they were from LAST Christmas sometime. Also, the Conoco at 10th & Washington shows 2.779 for gas. That's why I think they were either just before last Christmas or not too long after (Christmas decorations might be coming DOWN). And they missed a whole section I wanted to see (up in the Apache, Union, Rancho area) and some others.

Up here in Beaverton OR, they were about 18 months behind for a long time, but recently they were updated to last February or March (I can tell from looking at my house and a new school nearby), so they are doing some updates.

Still, it is nice to be able to browse most of the town. Hopefully they will fill in some more. I sent them an e-mail with a jpg showing how much they missed overall, and a request to review it. They sent back a nice generic thank you.

You think Alamo is bad? Try Espanola, and points northward, on Rt 285. The photos are not legible. They are going to have to do a complete do-over of that area, I'm afraid.
