Sorry Hiker you opinion is off the wall. Those places are a number of things but Gaudy is not among them..

Actually Bellagio gets pretty close to dignified. ...

It would appear you don't undersatand "gaudy"..

I have never heard that one. I remember it a little differently.

Sorry, but you're the one that went off when I disagreed with your original post calling the Bellagio, Wynn et al gaudy. All I said was that you must have a different interpretation of gaudy than I do and then you came back at me with a sarcastic response. I then replied in kind.

Pot, meet kettle.

I'll admit I'm still on the fence, but as attested to by the split comments received, I am comforted by the idea that I can't go too wrong with either hotel. Sounds like Wynn Encore is a better choice from the hotel/room front... it's newer, sleeker, better appointed. However, Bellagio's central location, fountains and shopping may edge out Wynn's end-of-strip location for us. And if we weren't getting a Bellagio Suite for the same price as a standard Wynn Encore room, I don't think this would be the case.

Thanks everyone for your opinions and advice!

FWIW, I'd take the Bellagio suite for all the reasons you've mentioned above. I've stayed at the Wynn and Encore because of their convenience to the convention center. The lobbies, casino floors, and grounds are beautiful. Honestly, I didn't find the rooms particularly memorable. As you said, you really can't lose between the two.

Bellagio - Gaudy? no way. No no no.

Wynn outdid himself on the Bellagio. Wynn and Encore are simply dressed nicer (silk walls, his own design carpets, the like.) Views at Bellagio are a billion times better, and location is better.

Bellagio has a more old-time feel, great property and in the midst of all Vegas has best to offer.

Wynn is very separate, Encore even more so. Granted the golf course and restaurants are top notch.

Bellagio has more and better shopping. However Wynn connects itself right to Fashion Mall.

Folks familiar with Vegas do seem to end up at Bellagio. Of course the top of the range suites are at the non-gaming Four Seasons or the new Mandarian. I know folks who always go to the Four Seasons (on other end of strip from Wynn) for the spas, luxury, and top end everything.

I don't agree that Wynn properties go 'downhill' when he sells. TI is a huge young-crowd draw, and even Mirage has die-hard returnees. Its not because they are downhill for sure! Each property has special things about them that bring folks. (TI for the clubs and Mirage for the atrium...for example.)
