I have a few questions i wanted ask some of you, I have been reading this site a lot on Vegas, I am planning on Moving To vegas and wanted to know if North Las vegas is a good area to live in? I have seen some people say it is, some people say it's not and some people say depends on where in Vegas you live North. Does anyone know if the area code 89085 is good?? It seems like it's pretty far. How far is it from the strip? Also does anyone know about Blueview or steven falls street? I also seen Summerlin, Green valley and Henderson are the top choices to live in, I have 2 small children and want to know what the schools are like. I know i have lots of questions but I am trying to gather as much information as i can before moving to my new home!!! Thanks all This is much appreciated

I've never lived in Vegas (I live vicariously in Vegas through this forum) but I have spent enough time driving through the city of North Las Vegas the last couple times I've visited to be pretty familiar with the area. They say on this forum to stay north of Craig and west of I-15, and by and large, I agree wholeheartedly. I don't know North Vegas Zip codes, though. Parts of North Vegas are legitimately bad.

That sums it up right there.

That was helpful, I'm sure. Why even respond? Did that make you feel better? Hope so.

Hey, be nice to dynimage. He is right.

As for a good zip code, 89084 is really good. 89085 is to the east, newer still, but closer to the base noise. (planes)

There's a post on the front page with the exact info in it. I'm not going to take a cruel tone to the poster though as I assume it was his/her way of introducing themselves. As a note to a moderator who might read this, making one of these posts about the good/bad areas into a sticky might be worthwhile.

Interpose:

I agree but our Administrator limits each forum to no more than two stickies.

And folks, although the T.O.S. does direct new members to use the search tools before posting a thread, we don't want to chase away new members by reprimanding them publicly and embarrassing them. Please let a moderator contact them if you think any reprimanding has to be done by using the "report this post" tool.

Please let future posts in this thread discuss what the OP is asking and not discussing forum protocol. There are some good discussions about searching and old threads in the About the Forum forum. Thanks. --'r

After reading the rules it was my impression that this forum is mainly for people who are interested in moving to, or finding information about a city. I don't understand why people find that unusual or repetitive. Plus searching might pull up old outdated threads. Things change. Ya know?

From the main page, " If you ever need to research any city, zip code, or neighborhood for any reason, from considering a move there to just checking where somebody you know is staying, this is the site for you."

Bottom line, everyone's opinion's of "good"/"safe" differ, so the best advice is to actually come to Las Vegas, rent a car and see for yourself both during the day and evening, and possibly during the weekend as well. That way YOU yourself will know what the area is like. If that's not possible, research as many Las Vegas chat forums as possible and search for North Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin, Green Valley, etc. But keep this in mind, crime is happening everywhere in Las Vegas, it's not confined to one area, so also check the zip codes via www.lvmpd.com for the latest crimes happening in the area(s) you're interested in.
You can ask questions on a forum until fingers fall off, but everyone here was raised or grew up a different way/lifestyle. Don't take the advice or recommendations to heart until you see the areas yourself. Moving to a new city is a big step and you personally want to make sure you feel safe, don't let others determine your destiny.
