No need to watch the weather in Vegas, its pretty damn predictable 98% of the time. No need to watch the sports, there pretty much is nothing to cover locally other than UNLV basketball.

So why even bothering watching it?

How could you have gangs, home invasions, and babies in dumpsters when they're all in Tucson?! The newscasters talk about nothing but ... when they aren't obsessing about the latest danger to your pet. We actually have a local news station with an "animal correspondent."

Going online, I found the LVRJ article which gave a different picture: 'he was acting erratic, destroying merchandise, wouldn't follow cop commands, then brandished his semi-auto, so they shot him.' Now, which one more closely resembles the truth, I don't know (as I wasn't there), but I sat back and said, hold on. Is that TV station skewing right wing??

I came here from California, where the news is so lefty it's not even amusing anymore. So this whole thing was rather disorienting for me.
I don't watch much local news, but I didn't think it was possible for anyone or anything to skew right of the LVRJ. Many of their front-page articles are editorials masquerading as news articles.

That's funny. Sharron Angle must be giving the RJ a run for their money on who can be holier than thou to the right wingers.

I tend to mostly watch Fox 5 only because thats what my wife introduced me to. Plus she likes "The Rant". I only found out about channel 8 after coming out here(Iraq).

My main reason for asking is because since I am currently deployed from Vegas I have been on both fox5news.com and channel8news.com. Been trying to keep up with whats going on back home. Especially since I have soooo much to do when I get back in about a month or so...... Rent out my house, buy a new place, find a new school for my daughter, move some in-laws in town, show some friends around the strip, check on property taxes, new laws, etc... Both sites relatively have the same information on them. Sometimes one will claim exclusivity stories over the other but thats only for an hour or so.

Also what about LVRJ versus The Sun? Or is there even a difference?

I prefer lasvegascitylife(more entertaining) to any of them but their web site is VERY slow out here. Takes forever to load.

Dont know whay that changed color like that.

^^^or this...

long day.(night)
Fox 5 and 8 are good for news! Channel 3 and 13 ok. But when people talk their voice does not match the screen on my Direct tv.. Trying to get email to all the local channels has been interesting! I am building a Senior Smart House-the home that cares for you! Just to have them help me communitcate with the outside world to find a grant to help me finish this home, I can't seem to open the right door to someone that can help me! Any suggestions? Thank you

I always tune in to KLAS8. Many news anchors switch stations and here in Vegas KLAS8 has the most loyal news anchors based on longevity of work at the station compared to others. I like to watch Paula Francis, Gary Waddell, George Knapp and the flaky weather forecaster, Sherry Swensk. Dave Courvoisier came from another local station.

Your "Buzz" on Ch-5 is a good call.

WRONG!!!! Dave Courvoisier was on Channel 3 KVBC for 13 years and left to take a job in Missouri. When he came back he started working for KLAS8 instead of KVBC3. His job in Missouri was with the local affiliate of CBS but here in Las Vegas he started with KVBC3.
