Just got our latest bill...$719..our home is a little less than 3000 SF and was built in the mid 80s...though it is mostly well insulated.

We were working a pool issue last month and that is a big part of our up. We ran the pool pump 24/7 for the period where as with the pool cover we normally run 4 hours a night. Last year our peak bill was $600 at the same period.

We go front of the house at 78 days/80 nights back 78 days/76 nights.

AC plants are ancient. We may end up replacing but have been hoping for a failure and letting the home warranty pay most of the bill.

Yeah, that's what I've been expecting, although I've been pleasantly surprised so far this summer. Before our move, I had been warned to expect summer electric bills to be upwards of $600+, but our last two bills were approximately $250 & $350. And we have 3 a/c unts from 1989.

But we'll see what happens next month.

$200 as a high for a 1200SQFT home built in 2001, it was about 20% less than that last year with lower settings on the climate control schedule. It was usually on 72/73 last year and now it's on 74/75.

$31-$32 last two months. Set at 90* 24/7.

Except for the few days we spend there each month.

I havent used the cooler in almost a month, been a very strange summer with humidity.
I've been running our a/c at 74 during the day and 70 at night, our bill came in at $320.00.
I replaced my own a/c and have to say I am pleased with the results, amazing what a few ductwork changes and pride in an install can do for efiiciency. We are also running a pool pump, swamp cooler in the garage and a very large cooler on the back patio.

Uh, do you live in a small bedroom or something?

My bill was 320 for 2600 sq feet- set at 86 when we are not home and 81-84 when we are there.

Hi olecapt. Be very careful with home warranty companies and hvac equipment, they tend to use low bidding contractors that tend to do less than desirable installs and if not done properly, a new efficient unit will be worthless.
Check my previous post. When I installed my unit, I upgraded a few previous contractor screwups and ended up with a very nice system that cools very efficiently.
