I'm sure it wouldn't be Greek Orthodox as their church isn't far from there on Hacienda, a block west of Jones. It isn't very old. It's huge, and they have large grounds for the annual Greek Food Festival.

Actually, that was only partly meant to be funny since it is research based.

Careful OC. I might be able to pinpoint where you'ns live.

And don't be so sure they don't sneak up on you at night and steal your innards while you sleep.

To me having LA 4 to 5 hours away (really 6 depending on where you're going), is a plus.

I'd like to point out to everyone that a gambling addict in Las Vegas would be an addict anywhere. It isn't something you catch from playing a slot machine. The difference is that in Las Vegas there are dozens of support groups for addicts, especially gambling addicts, whereas in most other cities they would be lucky to find one. But in any town in the world you can find a game, a bottle, or drugs if you are so inclined.

That said, I do not believe that these groups help very much except to get them to suppress those urges for a while. But that only causes unbearable frustration which makes one act crazy. They put the guy in the terrible position of feeling that he must have, can't have ....must do, can't do. The really bad ones even give people pills to make them sick if they follow their urges. Is it any wonder they go berserk and shoot up a crowd? If someone wanted to really help, they would cure the problem so that the guy would no longer be an addict. I only know of one group that can do that, but they are constantly attacked for it by the vested interests that are only after your insurance money. I have seen the Greek Orthodox Church on Hacienda and the under construction church is very similar in style. The under-construction church's denomination just piqued my curiosity since I've passed by the area many times.

Gambling, drug, pornography etc. addictions are almost always symptoms of other underlying issues such as loneliness, avoidance or depression. People begin to gamble or what not so often that it becomes as automatic as breathing. It usually takes something to really shake them up and make their routine impossible to make any real change.

Resort fees in a down economy make no sense. We were going to spend our money at NYNY on our comped stay but will stay at Bellagio again because NYNY would not waive resort fees for a comped stay.

I've had to suffer paying resort fees the last two or three times I've gone...The Luxor where I didn't know they had one until I checked out...Palace Station with the dirty swimming pool...New York New York...nice place, but would have liked some food comps for the resort fee. The only resort fee-ish thing I use is the wifi. The free newspaper is nice, too, if it's a Review-Journal, but it's not worth a resort fee.

I drove by the under-construction church today and took some photos. It is St. Simeon the Myrhgusher, a Serbian Orthodox Church.
