Hi Peeps,
What is the best place to buy meat in Las Vegas? We are from Santa Maria, CA, where TRI-TIP is the most popular cut of steak. (Ever of heard of Santa Maria TRI BBQ?) So is there a grocery store that we might be able to find TRI-TIP? Its the seasoning that I know we wont get out there, which wont be a problem. If we cant find it, it will not be the end of the world.

LOL, thanks for the sarcasm. I should have asked which grocery store has the best meat dept? Or are there any places that just specialize in meat?

There are some butcher shops in town. They have the best meat by far. A little more expensive though. Grocery store wise I don't really notice much difference. You just have to look at the meat before you buy it as any store has some questionable meat at some point or another.

No additional charge for sarcasm.

I have heard good things about Larrys Meats on Valley View at Alta.

How far is that from Green Valley Parkway? Sorry it will take us some time to acquaint ourselves with streets and their locations.

You can't beat Larry's meat.

I had to beat JFK to it.

Costco usually has tri-tips. They're prepackaged and pre-marinated, so I don't know if that's what you're looking for. I haven't been there in about 6 months, but last several times I went, they only had a traditional bbq marinade - they used to also carry Santa Maria (my personal favorite) and one other that we never tried.

If you're more of a purist, you're probably going to end up at a butcher for your tri-tip, but the Costco offering is a pretty good deal and takes some of the work out of the prep.
