Olecapt, I have stopped arguing with people about the brown recluse. There is one here that is similier, but does not do the damage a brown recluse spider does. It is the Desert brown spider. People are always the experts, but the ones who really are.

If you ever think that you may have a brown recluse and want to prove it, take it to the State of Nevada Department of Agriculture. They are located on East Sahara, right next to the DMV there. They will take your sample and send it to Carson City, to get analyzed by one of their Entomologist up there. It usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to get the results back. Then you can prove us wrong.

I have been in the industry for 12 years, and only once have we actually seen them. They were found in an apartment garage, where the people had brought their stuff from CA. They had just moved there 2 days before, and only one was still alive, partially.

If I was that interested in the subject of arguing the Brown Recluse, yeah Id go for it...I knwo several places to look -

but thats way too much wasted energy and Im not being paid for it, so if I happen to come across one and remember Ill do it.

and zombies? I dont need to tell anybody about zombies...I think you already know about them - they lurch up to you and try to suck your wallet dry at every street corner in Vegas.

we live in mounatins edge and my 2 year old was stung by a bark scoropin. she almost died. I can't get over how lightly people take having scorpions. I now check the entire house every night with a black light and kill them when I find them. We have a bug company come out, but they can't get rid of them.

It's not that people necessarily take it lightly. It's more that we live in a desert and scorpions have lived here long before you and I. It's one of those associated risks with deciding to live in a desert. If I lived out in bear country, I wouldn't be shocked if I encountered a grizzly. I'm sorry to hear about your 2 year old but the harsh realities of nature don't make exceptions for humans even if we do think we're better than everything else.

YOu would likely do much better killing them outside with a black light. Figure out where they are coming from and cut the population down. Then seal the house up. Fill all the cracks. They are getting in through some openings.

They are dangerous to small children but fatalities are very rare. AZ, which has the bark scorpion in significantly higher density has recorded two deaths in 25 years. Bees actually kill more people.

When reading all this, it kinda ''scares'' me.
I hate bugs and stuff, like every one else of course, but I am scared of spiders lol.
So hopefully I won't ever encounter one of the poisoness ones.
Can someone please tell me which of these creaps are poisoness or dangerous?
Ow, and please say in what area you live when you post about your scorpion problems etc,
so that way I know where NOT to move to
