Why not just get a job? I went to the strip last weekend and was askin around only to find out that 3 out of the 5 places we went to were hiring.

Don't know what type of work you're looking for, but my suggestion would be to get a job and relocate to the area of your employer. A lot of the off-strip properties have apartment complexes close by where you can walk to work.

Paris888 or HotChickfromNYC? If so, you were properly warned not to expect LV's public transportation to be anything like NYC's. Apples-to-feathers, IMO.

Maybe for you it isn't...but most folks I know that live here are quite happy and doing well and enjoying themselves to boot!

My apartment complex is across the street from a bus stop and around the corner from another bus line, but 20-30-60 minutes waiting time for a bus???? I didn't realize this, and wasn't smart enough to look at the "bus schedules" before moving here. Last night I waited 60 minutes for a bus (past 7pm schedule) This is crazy!! I am a single woman and do not feel safe standing waiting for a bus at some of these bus stops I know I really need a car, but how is someone suppose to buy a car, insurance, and plates and pay rent/other bills on unemployment? I don't think this place is going to work for me sadly I was used to going anywhere at any time of the day/night in New York City. I read on these forums that the bus service was slow, but didn't realize the "wait" times which are unreasonable in my opinion when you need to get somewhere, especially a job. I am sure many have been fired here for not being able to get to work on time

Disheartened to say the least.
Oh well, you tried it and didn't like it. Time for you to pack up and move "home" if you can't buy a car.

Sorry it didn't work out for you, but at least you triedj, so give yourself credit for that! Next time though, do a bit more homework and visit/explore/inquire about the place you want to live in as a potential resident, and not just as a tourist.

Good luck with your move!

Well, I guess I'm not the typical Las Vegas resident, because I love the Strip and spend 3-4 days a week down there. And that doesn't include the occasional trip to Fremont St, Red Rock, M, or some of the other off-Strip casinos. Yesterday for example, I played poker for a couple of hours at MGM, then drove home, picked up my wife, and we drove out to M for dinner. (Great buffet by the way!). The day before, I played at Wynn for a couple of hours and then my wife and I people-watched as we walked through Palazzo & Venetian, before crossing the street and checking out T.I. While there, we went into Gilley's, shared a "boot" filled with margaritas, and then had a surprisingly good rib dinner. And as soon as I finish typing this post, we're off to CP, and then depending on how the poker goes, perhaps some shopping at the Forum Shops.

I'm with you MMOB, I am on the Strip and at Fremont regularly and always have been. They are my playpen, lol.

Don't get me wrong...I do enjoy an occasional jaunt to the Strip. I was just trying to make a point that there is an enjoyable life outside of the Strip. I love the desert beauty, hiking, biking, exercising and the almost rural feel you get when you live on the edge of the city next to the desert.

I tend to go to the neighborhood casinos for movies, bowling, and dinner. I would say I go to Red Rock almost once a week. I only go to the Strip when we have visitors in town, or if I'm going to a specific restaurant or show (I don't gamble.) I do enjoy walking around the beautiful landscaped casinos. I also love checking out the botanical display at the Bellagio and the water show out front whenever we are there.

Oh, so she hasn't given it enough time to get used to it all yet. A month is nothing! Seems because it isn't like New York she is ready go give up and go back to Montana, and that will be extremely boring to her since she is used to the fast paced city life.
I bet San Francisco or Los Angeles would be a great fit for her.
