Needing a job really bad can make a person pretty serious. I hope they don't hold that against you! All the best to you.

Smile Wish me luck

I applied for the part-time PBX position last week. filled out my online app at 4am and got the e-mail to interview by noon. Today I went to the group interview with about 10 other people and now waiting on my callback or rejection letter. I love the atmosphere and the people. I have no previous casino experience but I have a degree and customer service managerial experience.

I went in for my second interview on Sept 8. I interviewed with two department managers. The questions where easy. Same ones others have mentioned. I was told it would take 3 or 4 weeks to hear back as they are going to interview a lot of people. My interviewers where not sure if they will have a third interview. They said it depends on how the second interviews go.
To those wondering why applicants would be told they are too serious:
Unemployment is very high in Las Vegas. You may have hundreds of people apply for one position. If you're a hiring manager and you interview two people who are equally qualified for a position and one is serious and quiet and the other is happy and upbeat and outgoing, which one would you hire....?
Keep in mind that there are many people applying who have been working on the strip in that exact same position for 20 years. There will almost always be someone with more experience than you interviewing. Set yourself appart by being upbeat and outgoing and smile the whole way through your interview
Good luck to everybody

I hope your second interview went well. My audition was on Aug 27, and I am still waiting for second interview (or rejection notice). It has been almost three weeks. I called once, but they just said they are behind and asked me to wait.
Which position did you apply for? Can you share some interview questions for the second interview?

Good luck!

Hi, butterfly!
I haven't heard from them. It has been three weeks since my audition.
Actually, I called HR yesterday. HR rep told me that they are waiting for the hiring dept. to make a decision. I guess they are so so behind their schedule. They are going to open in December, and it's not that far away.
I hope they know what they are doing. I will let you know when I receive an e-mail.
Good luck!

So...with all the posts on here asking about Cosmo, I felt it was time I post some "insiders" tips from my own personal experience as well as tips from another insider within Cosmo.
For the most part, this is aimed at those who are applying to and not those who are waiting or have gone through the process because quite frankly, if you are waiting...you arent going to be called in. Simply put, the reason is such because of there format for hiring. Did you get a pre employment "test" to take via your email? If you did, and you did not hear anything...again, you wont. I shall explain.

Cosmo's hiring protocol requires a 3 part system that checks for certain qualifications. Not YOUR qualifications mind you but rather COSMO's qualification requirements. This is embedded within there initial web site registration. You think you are inputting your personal work history/education/references etc. Really it is checking for certain other aspects. Those are just default requirements. You may notice that certain positions [ especially management ] where a small 5-6 questionnaire follows your general application requires you to add more specific information about your skills . It is there the program decides if you are eligible to receive part 2 of the Cosmos hiring process.
If you happen to pass the first part, you will receive a link in your email that requires you to do an assessment evaluation. Naturally, it says that no answer can be a right or wrong answer. This could not be further from the truth. This is a psych evaluation that monitors your answers in natural repetition. If you notice, the questions are all the same, they are just worded different in order to evaluate your consistency in answering the redundant questions.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT YOU ANSWER WITH GREAT CARE!!! This will determine an initial interview or not. IF you received this test and you have not been contacted by Cosmo for an initial interview, you might as well stop wondering, it is not going to happen. Those who passed the second stage of the hiring process will be contacted via email within 1-2 days of said assessment. You will then be asked to register for a day of your choice and time to come in and sit for around 30 minutes, in a group environment.
Part 3 happens at the end of your group interview. THIS THE MOST CRUCIAL PART OF YOUR ENTIRE INTERVIEW PROCESS!!
Your interviewer will then ask you to fill out a questionnaire that asks you to input answers that will check for your ethical and moral stances.
These questions can be along the lines of :
"An elderly couple enters your retail shop but finds they do not have enough money. Do you deny them the product or do you cheerfully give your own money"
"A fellow co-worker is looking for a promotion that you are also seeking. This co-worker has a family that very much needs the increase of money that comes with the position. You however, are not as needy as they are. Do you surrender the position to them in kindness or not"

Granted, these questions are NOT the exact questions asked but summarizes the what you will be seeing.
I have found out internally that this is where I , myself made the mistake. I answered truthfully but not what Cosmo is looking for. They want the "above and beyond" person. Granted, this may not be the case or scenario one would come upon in a daily routine. However, they wanted to see if you would indeed do this in a situation or likeness.

People, it is black and white here. It is not based on your personality or experience. The hiring process is based on completing the intended requirements the company has laid out.
I found this out and went to my connection and questioned why I received a letter informing me that "the journey has ended" for me.
I am a Chef. Not to mention a Pro Chef 3 certified. I have 12 million dollar PNL experience at HIGH end resorts and restaurants stemming from Guy Savoy to The Venetian. Still, it does not matter. If you cannot complete the requirements of the company hiring process, no matter how stunningly preposterous it may seem, you will not be accepted. Bottom line.

So, to all of you out there wondering about how foolish or dumb or stupid...whatever you want to call the process. It doesnt really matter. Move on!
To those who are at the beginning stages, hopefully this provides you with a little inside info.
Good Luck!
