That's not because we're overrun with pests like Florida, or New York. It's because we are spoiled and never want to see any critters in the house. Las Vegas is a city of many great conveniences. Pest control is one of them.

There. I feel better. lol.
Meanings and history of the name Tenaya:
Tenaya means "to dream" in the Ahwahneechee language and has also been used as a noun meaning "great leader".

I'd give in to the local (Yosemite) pronunciation, since that's where it came from, except in this case it's just easier to say Ten Ay Uh. Embarrassed to say, when I was about ten years old I asked my older sister what Yose Might Sam (Yosemite Sam) was and was severely corrected. Now can we move on to Tuolumne? I wish we had a street by that name. Think of the fun we'd have. Almost as much as we have with Hualapai. We don't have a Tuolumne Street do we?

Or when non locals use words like "there" instead of "their", and incorrectly saying "most saddest", (while also misspelling "saddest" BTW), to criticize us, instead of correctly using "most sad" or simply "saddest".

You know you're in Vegas when it's a windy day and you have to chase your garbage can down and find it at the end of the street...or have to swerve back and forth to avoid the garbage cans in the middle of the street!

Agreed. When in Rome do as the Romans do. I won't argue with a native from New Orleans that it's not pronounced "Nahwlins", or someone from Spokane that it's "SpokAAne", not "Spo-kan".....You can always tell when someone is not local when they call Ne-vad-a...... Nev-AH-da. Besides, if anyone actually pronounced Tenaya that way nobody would know where the heck they were talking about anyway.
