Need your thoughts here. Here are our spec's:

-30'ish adult couple with one baby just under 2 years.
-hubby works from home, I stay home with baby so commute is not an issue.
-school is a big deal for me. Willing to compromise square footage for location, location, location (and with that I mean the right school zone).
-relocating ourselves, so we don't know anyone in the area, would love to move to a family-friendly neighborhood/housing community where we can meet some nice, normal families and build some new friendships.
-budget upto $180K. Need at least 3bdrm 2bath

Your thoughts/experiences of where to look (and also where NOT to look?)

Schools and meeting people are not 2 of the area's strong points. Good luck.

Just use Twtichell/Vandenberg Elementary as a search criteria. These are twin schools and in the top five in Las Vegas. They are located in Green Valley Ranch just to the east of GV Pkwy.

Contrary to the views of our critic from lost in the woods upstate NY these are about as good elementary schools as available in the US.

There are about 4 homes that meet your specs and are not short and 10 that are.

Note these are mature neighborhoods. So a wide range of residents. You will need to meet people through the kid...schools and kiddie programs.

If you want younger neighborhoods you would be better off in the NW or SW.

Seven Hills is also a great subdivision in Henderson. Our school is Elise Wolff and is rated a 10 according to the GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community web site.

LOTS of walking and biking trails as well as parks.
