61 I feel for you. I don't know what has happened, but we are a forgiving society and I hope things turn around for you. I have a friend who is 41 and having the same problems finding anytype of work. I hope you stay positive, wait for the DOC's good to go and then apply all over the place. Go back every few days, show them that you want to work, are a go getter and keep a positive attitude.
The friend of mine lets too many things get him down and stays pretty negative. He's a friend and if I had a business, I would hire him in a minute. I do remember someone mentioning about groups out there to help with this, I sincerely hope you look into that.
Bottom line is your not owed anything, but you don't need to be kept down either. While waiting for a job, I would get with the States unemployment system and see if they have job training (learn a new skill). If times are that tuff, go for financial aide (not sure if you can - but education loans are out there). Set yourself up, so that your past is just the very small piece of who you are.
My father was a truck driver and applied at a different company that required a physical. He found out at that time about his heart condition. Are insurance companies behind this? Sure. But you see the lawsuits in this country, they are absolutely rediculous...so companies protect themselves.
STAY POSITIVE and I REALLY DO WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK. Find something you like, are good at, do a great job at, and sell yourself the best you can.

And someone did mention before that there are groups in just about every city willing to help ex-felons get work.
`At this festive season of the year, Mr. Scrooge,' said the gentleman, taking up a pen, `it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and Destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir.'

`Are there no prisons?' asked Scrooge.

`Plenty of prisons,' said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.

`And the Union workhouses?' demanded Scrooge. `Are they still in operation?'

`They are. Still,' returned the gentleman, `I wish I could say they were not.'

`The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?' said Scrooge.

`Both very busy, sir.'

`Oh! I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course,' said Scrooge. `I'm very glad to hear it.'

Technically, you only have to register if you have more than one felony.

You definitely don't have to register for a felony... I think there are more details concerning that statement, like how many and for what. There are a lot of different situations but to be sure you can always give Metro a call. I can't wait to get the hell out of Las Vegas :-)
