Hi everyone.

Its a line that im sure youve all heard before...Im new to CityData. Im hoping to get the inside scoop on vegas Basically in From Australia/New Zealand. Like everyone else my intake of Vegas is taken largely from the idiot box...I arrive in March for 2weeks. Havent got the faintest idea what to do. My tastes are all over the show. Id get kicks out of skydiving or knitting!

My question is...If you could go back and change your first trip to vegas...what would you do? Nice to meet you all(In that wierd not meeting you kinda way

Since you have two weeks, I'd rent a car and do this first: Grand Circle | Utah.com

Then I'd just hang out on the Strip, as there is enough to do just wondering around, to keep you entertained for several days, and you'll see what I mean when you get here.

If you still have time to kill, try driving up to the Mount Charleston Lodge for breakfast some morning; drive out to Hoover Dam and tour that. In March the desert should be just beginning to blossom in zillions of wild flowers, so head up the North Shore Road around Lake Mead and take pictures, or take a drive over to Death Valley where the flowers are usually spectacular, as is Death Valley itself.

Of course, you have to see some shows. After all this is the entertainment capital of the world. I personally don't think a trip to Las Vegas could be complete without seeing Jubilee, and/or any of the "Cirque" shows.

+1 on renting a car. You don't have to to have a good time on the strip, but you indicated that you like a wide-variety of activities, so you'll probably want to do as Buzz said and take a trip to the Hoover Dam, Mount Charleston, Red Rock Canyon, as well as the usual casino deal on the Strip and Downtown.

Have fun - first time to Vegas is definitely a good time. Trying to think of an answer to your question (if I could change anything about my first trip, what would it be). I don't think I'd change anything. I drove out in a beat up old Volvo from the East Coast, met up with some friends in Vegas, stayed for 3 weeks, won a bunch of money playing poker all over town, and had a great time. ... Oh - I stayed at Circus Circus for two of those weeks. If I could do it again, on the same budget, I'd go with a cheap central-strip location like Excaliber, Imperial Palace, Wild Bill's, or maybe Riviera; better choices for the budget-conscious.

My first trip to Las Vegas I stayed for 46 years. But I would change the fact that I drove an un-air conditioned car for two summers.

Awesome! Because I know nothing of Vegas I'd probably do exactly what you just said. Tick tick aand tick The business side of things I'll be there to buy a SFR probably in green valley(heard I can't go wrong there)

Never seen a Cirque so that'll be a definate. Hoover dam is on the list of course. It's a lot but I'll be doing the helicopter tour for 300 or so big ones!

I'm like everyone else I suppose. If I can get a great deal I'd stay at places like Aria and Bellagio. But I'm so diverse I can stay at a place like hooters swell and still be ok

Those cheaper but moderate places you mentioned for accommodation...could you rate them?

Thanks everyone. I'll be driving from LA to Vegas. The reason is to be apart of that clique movie scene you forever see in all Vegas films! Tacky I know but I'm from overseas! We gobble stuff like that up happily!

TripAdvisor.com says you are correct! Nice one! Free shuttle every 10mins to the strip! Movies, arcade, good shows apparently
