I thought I'd post the following links in an individual stand-alone thread on the overall Southern Nevada economy. Enjoy.

Directory to southern Nevada economy resources pages in CBER@UNLV site (http://cber.unlv.edu/snecon.html - broken link)

Southern Nevada Index of Leading Economic Indicators from CBER@UNLV

"The Southern Nevada Index of Leading Economic Indicators grew by 0.21 percent in October, marking the second consecutive month of gain. Strong growth in gross gaming revenue was the primary contributor to the gain. The other components in the index contributed little or had a negative influence.

"For the past 18 months, the index has provided no clear direction for the Southern Nevada economy. Given the relatively small gains in the index over the past two months, a stronger showing is needed to provide evidence that the Southern Nevada economy is on the rise."

This is authored by Robert Potts (http://cber.unlv.edu/potts.html - broken link) and Dr. Stephen P. A. Brown (http://cber.unlv.edu/brown.html - broken link), both of the Center for Business and Economic Research at UNLV.
