it was but I believe it was never smoke free. They tore it down to build the Mirage. I use to go there for the $3.99 all you can eat ribs before it closed.

Obviously not more than they're making because their businesses aren't smoke free...

If there was a valid business case for banning smoking in Las Vegas casinos, they would have done it by now. The places that have tried it learned the hard way - this is Sin City. People don't come here to be told what they can't do.

You have the personal freedom to patronize a different establishment.

You have no right to dictate to others what legal behavior they can and can't participate in while standing next to you in someone else's place of business.

Open challenge to all readers:
If you really believe that there's a market for a completely smoke-free casino in Las Vegas, put your money where your mouth is. Open one. If you do, I hope you do well - really - but you won't see me clamoring for a chance to invest in your experiment.

What's legal and what's not is highly dependent on location for a great number of laws. The legality of smoking in establishments is being challenged all over because nobody has the option of breathing. Someone who enjoys visiting a casino or a bar or whatever who does not smoke is forced to breathe the smoke when they enter. I can only imagine people that have quit smoking and try to enjoy a casino atmosphere.

I like to relate it to the guy who loves to talk super loud on his cell phone. You don't have the option of just not hearing him. I'm all for not outright banning smoking and I would fully encourage all casinos to have a clearly defined smoking and non smoking area. The only problem is that you run into certain attractions within the casino that can only be located in either or.

Most people try not to fart in the presence of others...as it is considered offensive. Note that it is perfectly legal to do so...but out of respect for others, most release their intestinal gases out of the smelling reach of others.

You DO have the option of leaving, however. That was kind of my entire point, and it was pretty clear.

You want a non-smoking casino? You have the option to open one.

Swagger you are arguing with well settled law. The government can ban smoking as it can impose health codes. It is not up for grabs.

They may not. At least for a while. But the public may decide to do so in the future. Or a couple of dealers get multiple million dollar awards for lung cancer...

I have the option of taking your cigarette and putting it out in your eye ball too. Saying that everyone who is bothered by the smoke should just get out is kind of lame. Mind you, I'm not all that bothered by the smoke but your argument that people who are bothered by it should just go make a casino is ludicrous.
